6 July Marks World Rural Development Day

World Rural Development Day is observed annually on 6 July following its proclamation by the United Nations General Assembly to highlight the vital role of rural communities in achieving sustainable development, ensuring food security, and improving people’s quality of life.

In the Republic of Tajikistan, rural development remains one of the government’s key priorities. As part of the preparations for the 35th anniversary of the country’s State Independence, extensive efforts are underway to improve rural infrastructure through the construction of social facilities, road rehabilitation, and the expansion of public services.

Rural tourism is also gaining increasing importance as a driver of economic growth. Tajikistan’s unique natural landscapes and rich historical and cultural heritage provide significant opportunities to attract more visitors, create employment, increase local incomes, and promote the sustainable development of rural communities.
