In a festive and ceremonial atmosphere, the official opening ceremony of the International Paragliding Tournament for the President’s Cup of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Danghara district.
The event began with the national anthem and brought together key officials, including Khatlon Deputy Chairman Abdullo Rahmonzoda, Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Zulfiqor Gulahmadzoda, Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Jumakhon Jamshedzoda, and President of the Tajikistan Paragliding and Light Aircraft Federation Abdullo Khayrulloev.
During the speeches, it was emphasized that hosting international competitions of this scale plays a significant role in promoting air sports, showcasing the country’s tourism potential, strengthening international cooperation, and encouraging young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The tournament is being held in the mountainous areas of Danghara district in two disciplines — precision landing and cross-country flying. More than 150 athletes from over 20 countries are taking part in this year’s competition.
Following the official ceremony, demonstration flights by athletes from various countries created a colorful and memorable festive atmosphere.
This year’s tournament is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and will continue until May 4.
