Tourism Route Organized in Dushanbe as Part of High-Level International Water Conference

Within the framework of the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,” held from May 25 to 28 in Dushanbe, six tourism routes to different regions of the country were organized by the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

One of the routes was arranged to the Sioma Gorge and the Safed-Dara Tourism and Sports Complex, with the participation of more than 100 international guests, government representatives, journalists, and tourism specialists.

The trip started from the square in front of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Sadriddin Ayni, using three buses. Along the route, participants enjoyed the scenic views of the capital and the natural beauty of the Varzob district.

During the journey, guests paid special attention to Tajikistan’s rich water resources and the country’s important role in addressing global water and climate issues. Upon arrival in Sioma Gorge, the delegation was warmly welcomed by representatives of the local authorities of Varzob district.

Participants explored the natural and tourism potential of the area and took memorable photos. Sioma Gorge, with its fresh air, crystal-clear river, and unique mountainous landscapes, is considered one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country.

The delegation then visited the Safed-Dara ski and tourism complex. The route between Sioma and Safed-Dara, passing through picturesque mountain landscapes, attracted great interest from participants.

At Safed-Dara, a cultural program and a handicraft exhibition were organized. Guests were introduced to traditional crafts and purchased souvenirs.

Participants were also given the opportunity to take a cable car ride up to an altitude of 2,590 meters above sea level, capturing memorable photos of the snow-covered mountains.

According to organizers, Safed-Dara is one of the modern winter sports centers in Tajikistan, receiving thousands of domestic and international tourists annually. The area also has strong potential for the development of mountain, eco, and agro tourism.

Thus, the tourism route Dushanbe–Sioma–Safed-Dara–Dushanbe, organized within the framework of the international conference, concluded successfully with vivid impressions and was recognized as an important initiative for promoting Tajikistan’s water and tourism potential.
