A draft Domestic Tourism Development Programme of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027–2031 has been proposed to create favourable conditions for sustainable domestic tourism, improve the tourism environment, and ensure the effective use of the country’s natural, historical and cultural potential.
The programme aims to further develop domestic tourism, create new economic opportunities for regions and remote rural areas, improve living standards, and preserve and restore the country’s historical and cultural heritage. Particular attention is also being given to promoting Tajikistan’s tourism potential among its citizens, developing domestic tourist routes and fostering a culture of travel among the population.
The development of ecotourism, cultural and historical tourism, mountaineering, health tourism, agritourism and other forms of tourism can become an important driver of regional economic development.
