During the years of state independence, Tajikistan has placed particular emphasis on the preservation and revival of its historical and cultural heritage. As part of these efforts, dozens of national monuments and historical and cultural sites have been restored and renovated.
These measures have not only contributed to the preservation of historical values, but have also created favourable conditions for the development of tourism and the promotion of Tajikistan’s tourism potential internationally.
The Sultan Uways al-Qarani Historical and Cultural Reserve in the Khovaling district is one such destination. Located in the picturesque foothills of Khovaling, the reserve has undergone significant development during the years of independence and has emerged as an important destination for pilgrimage and cultural tourism in the country.
With the continued support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and within the framework of the cultural policy pursued by the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, extensive improvement, reconstruction and modernization works have been carried out at the site.
In 2006, on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the mausoleum of Sultan Uways al-Qarani was fully renovated, creating favourable conditions for the preservation of this valuable historical and cultural heritage. Subsequently, roads, bridges and essential infrastructure were upgraded, significantly improving access to the reserve for visitors.
