Rudaki Museum in Panjakent: Preserving the History and Cultural Heritage of the Tajik Nation

The Republican Museum of History and Local Lore named after Abuabdullo Rudaki in the city of Panjakent is regarded as one of the country’s most important cultural institutions. The museum was established in 1958 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of Abuabdullo Rudaki, the founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature.

Today, the museum’s collection includes nearly 70,000 exhibits, a significant number of which are on public display. Arranged across eight exhibition halls according to historical periods, these artifacts reflect the ancient history, rich culture, and civilizational heritage of the Tajik people.

Each year, the museum welcomes up to 20,000 domestic and international visitors, as well as tourists interested in exploring Tajikistan’s historical and cultural legacy.

In addition to its exhibition activities, the museum places special emphasis on research and cultural-educational work, regularly hosting conferences, seminars, and various thematic events.

Today, the Rudaki Museum continues to play an important role in preserving, studying, and promoting the history and cultural heritage of the Tajik nation, making a valuable contribution to strengthening national identity.
