The 8th Meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held in Dushanbe. The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Federal Minister for Energy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, with the participation of official delegations from both countries.
During the session, the parties discussed a broad range of bilateral cooperation issues, including trade, investment, agriculture, energy, education, banking, science and technology, tourism, youth policy, sports, transport and communications.
The participants emphasized that friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan have demonstrated positive and steady growth in recent years, driven by the strong political will of the leadership of both countries. Significant opportunities remain for further expanding trade and economic relations.
According to the figures presented, bilateral trade turnover between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan reached USD 43 million in 2025, while trade volume for January–March 2026 amounted to USD 8.9 million. The parties highlighted the importance of increasing trade turnover, exploring new avenues for economic cooperation, diversifying export and import goods, and strengthening direct ties between business and investment communities of the two countries.
The meeting also underscored the strategic importance of the CASA-1000 regional electricity transmission project as a key driver of energy cooperation and regional integration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the outcomes achieved and noted that the implementation of the agreed decisions would contribute to further strengthening friendly relations and mutually beneficial partnership between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the 8th Meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by the co-chairs of the Commission.
