Construction of a solar power plant in Asht District is progressing steadily as part of efforts to improve electricity supply and expand the use of renewable energy sources.
To date, 75 percent of the construction work has been completed, with 49,000 solar panels installed across an area of 30 hectares. The facility is currently generating 30 megawatts of electricity, which is being supplied to the power grid. Overall, the project is expected to reach a production capacity of 250 megawatts of green electricity by the end of the year.
Amid growing demand for electricity and within the framework of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan’s initiatives to develop the energy sector, implementation of this important strategic project is continuing.
The solar power plant in Asht District is being constructed on a total area of 750 hectares and is designed to provide electricity to more than 115,000 households.
Construction is currently progressing with the involvement of both domestic and foreign specialists. Necessary measures are being taken to ensure the facility is commissioned within the established timeframe.
In line with the instructions and directives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, aimed at developing the energy sector and ensuring the population has access to high-quality electricity, the involvement of experienced specialists in the construction works is continuing according to plan. More than 350 specialists are currently engaged in construction activities and the installation and assembly of equipment.
Under current conditions, as the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly evident, the use of renewable energy sources is gaining particular importance. The construction of solar power plants represents an important step towards developing green energy, reducing negative environmental impacts and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
