On May 12, in Beijing, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with Peking University Rector Gong Qihuang.
The two sides focused on cooperation in science and education, including collaboration between the two countries’ higher education institutions.
It was noted that approximately 6,000 students from Tajikistan are currently studying at educational institutions in the People’s Republic of China.
The two sides expressed interest in attracting Tajik youth to study science, engineering, information technology, digital economics, and artificial intelligence at Chinese educational institutions.
The effective work of the Confucius Centers and the Tajik-Chinese Center for Practical and Vocational Training «Lu Ban Workshop» in Tajikistan was highlighted as an outstanding example of cooperation in education.
Important topics of discussion also included expanding cooperation in scientific research, continuing collaboration in the translation and publication of scientific and historical-cultural works, and increasing the number of educational scholarships for Tajik citizens.
