Strengthening National Identity and Cultural Development — A Key Priority of the State’s Constructive Policy

Through the continuous support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, favorable conditions have been created in recent years for the development of culture and tourism in the country. The sector’s infrastructure is being modernized, while national traditions and cultural life in cities and rural areas are experiencing a strong revival.

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the year 2026 has been declared the “Year of Expanding Construction and Beautification Efforts and Strengthening National Identity and Self-Awareness.” This initiative was proposed in the President’s Address to the Supreme Assembly on December 16, 2025, and aims to promote national values and cultural development.

Today, large-scale beautification and landscaping works are underway throughout the country, including the improvement of streets, parks, public spaces, and residential areas, creating favorable conditions for the достойное celebration of the national anniversary.

The Republic of Tajikistan considers cultural and humanitarian diplomacy one of the priorities of its foreign policy and continues to implement effective measures to preserve and promote the authentic national and cultural values of the Tajik people. In this regard, the construction and commissioning of modern cultural and recreational institutions serve as a clear example of the state’s attention to cultural development and heritage preservation.

Within the framework of the state’s cultural policy, numerous cultural, educational, and artistic events have been organized, introducing the national traditions, ancient customs, and rich culture of the Tajik nation not only to citizens of the country but also to thousands of foreign tourists.

At the same time, Dushanbe, as the capital of independent Tajikistan, plays a significant role in preserving and promoting historical and cultural values. The city has become a major venue for international cultural events, scientific conferences, and folk festivals, further strengthening its status on the global stage as a cultural city.
