OPENING OF THE TRADITIONAL EXHIBITION “FROM NAVRUZ TO NAVRUZ” AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM

Today, 13 March 2026, the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted the opening of the traditional exhibition entitled “From Navruz to Navruz”, dedicated to the celebration of the International Navruz holiday.

At the beginning of the event, the Director of the National Museum, Zafarsho Safo Ibrohimzoda, congratulated the participants on the occasion of the International Navruz holiday and delivered a speech on the significance of Navruz and the concept of the traditional exhibition “From Navruz to Navruz.”

The exhibition presents newly acquired objects of historical and cultural significance that were collected over the course of one year — from Navruz 2025 to Navruz 2026 — through various means, including expeditions, purchases, and donations, and subsequently incorporated into the collections of the National Museum.

It was noted that during this period 665 items of historical and cultural heritage were added to the museum’s holdings. Of these, 240 objects were acquired by the museum’s acquisitions commission, 182 items were discovered by the institution’s archaeologists during investigations of archaeological sites within the country, and 243 objects were donated to the museum by individuals and organizations.

The exhibition includes archaeological and ethnographic materials, manuscript sources, lithographic publications, paintings, coins from various historical periods, different types of embroidery, as well as traditional garments and chakan embroidered dresses, all of which reflect the rich history and ancient culture of the Tajik people.

In addition, the exhibition features a unique archaeological artifact – a two-handled water vessel bearing an inscription in the ancient Bactrian script, discovered by archaeologists of the National Museum during excavations at the Halkajar archaeological site in Khuroson District.

The traditional exhibition “From Navruz to Navruz” will remain open until 23 March 2026.
