In Dushanbe, preparations are progressing rapidly for one of the most important sporting events of the year — the international Dushanbe Grand Slam 2026 judo tournament. The Tennis Palace and Water Sports Complex in Dushanbe has been selected as the main venue for the competition, where work on installing equipment, preparing the arena, and creating comfortable conditions for athletes and guests is nearing completion.
The main installation work, preparation of the competition hall, and arrangements for the necessary infrastructure have already been completed. At present, specialists are working on the final setup of equipment around the tatami and other technical details related to the competition area.
At the same time, decorative work featuring national symbols and the official branding of the tournament has also been completed in order to create a festive and memorable atmosphere for participants and spectators.
According to officials, all preparations are being carried out in accordance with the requirements of the International Judo Federation, with the main goal of ensuring the tournament is held at the highest organizational level.
It is expected that renowned athletes from various countries will participate in the event, competing for world ranking points, Olympic qualification advantages, and valuable prizes.
Hosting such tournaments is important not only for the development of judo, but also for promoting Tajikistan on the international stage as a country with a rich history, culture, and significant tourism potential.
Tajikistan will be represented at the tournament by 39 athletes — 28 men and 11 women. Fans are placing high hopes on the national team to deliver strong and достойные performances.
It is worth noting that, in addition to medals, athletes will also earn valuable points in the world ranking standings. The total prize fund of the tournament amounts to 154,000 euros.
Gold medal winners in each weight category will receive 5,000 euros, silver medalists will receive 3,000 euros, and bronze medalists will be awarded 1,500 euros.
