The International Skills Forum Tajikistan–2026 was held at the Skills Development Center of Danghara district in Khatlon region.
The forum was organized with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to showcase the professional skills potential of citizens, exchange international experience, and strengthen regional and international cooperation within the framework of the “Improving Skills and Employability Project.”
On the first day of the forum, participants visited the Nurek Hydropower Plant. In Nurek city, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the city administration with traditional hospitality. Participants were introduced to the Nurek reservoir, power units, and museum of this major hydropower facility before returning to Danghara.
Prior to the official opening, guests visited an exhibition of products, handicrafts, and technical equipment produced by students of skills development centers across Tajikistan.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives of international organizations, and delegates from vocational education institutions of Tajikistan and Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, as well as China, Türkiye, and Germany.
Speakers emphasized that, thanks to the support and educational policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, favorable conditions have been created for youth to acquire professional skills and enhance both vocational and life competencies.
Participants noted that such forums provide an opportunity for young people to exchange experience and strengthen friendship and cooperation among nations.
It was highlighted that the “Improving Skills and Employability Project” is implemented under the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, based on grant agreements between the Government of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank.
Within the project, vocational training and service centers have been established in Khujand, Bokhtar, and Vose district, while modern skills development centers have been built in Dushanbe, Roghun, and Danghara. These centers provide short-term training, skills recognition, and competency development in 20 priority occupations, including energy, construction, tourism, and agriculture.
The forum will continue on its second day, featuring competitions in the professions of “Electrician,” “Plasterer,” “Gas and Electric Welder,” and “Solar Equipment Installer,” where young professionals will demonstrate their skills.
