A working session of the Republican Commission of the “Shohnoma reading” Competition was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Dilrabo Mansuri. During the session, the Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan stated that the Republican Competition “Shohnoma reading” is being held within the framework of the implementation of the Order of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. Its goal is to pay tribute to the incomparable literary heritage of the nation and in-depth study of the “Shohnoma” by Abulqosim Firdavsi.
The Minister of Education and Science stated that in order to implement the Order of the President of Tajikistan, a working group of the Ministry of Education and Science was established, and a number of organizational and methodological measures were implemented. In particular, a copy of the Competition Regulations was sent to local executive bodies of state power, boards and departments of education, general, primary, secondary and higher vocational education institutions, and methodological instructions and recommendations were provided for the high-quality organization of the competition rounds. At the same time, consultative seminars were held in the regions, cities and districts of the republic for officials and members of the commission. It was emphasized that during the preparation of participants, special attention is paid to a deep understanding of the content of the “Shohnoma”, a high culture of recitation, compliance with the norms of the literary language and strengthening the national worldview.
The meeting continued with the discussion of the schedule of four competition rounds for 2026. In this order, the first round will be held in March, the second round in April, the third round in the second half of September, and the fourth round in the first half of December. In the meeting was noted that the “Shohnoma reading” competition is a logical continuation of the cultural policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon. In this context, the publication and distribution of more than 1.7 million copies of “Shohnoma” to every Tajik household was considered an important cultural initiative that contributes to strengthening national self-awareness and expanding the culture of reading. The competition is not only a means of discovering new talents in the field of recitation and oratory, but also an important factor in raising the level of spirituality, patriotic pride and a sense of national identity in society.
