Meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan

On July 28, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Head of the Government of the country, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon.

The meeting first discussed the results of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Tajikistan in the first half of 2026 and the tasks for the second half.

Referring to the unstable economic and political situation in the world today and the possibility of its further complication, the President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that the main task of the Government is to maintain macroeconomic stability, ensure economic security, prevent the impact of potential risks, and fully utilize domestic opportunities.

It was considered necessary to increase the level of self-sufficiency and gradually reduce dependence on imported goods and products. Also, ensure the development of domestic production through the effective use of intellectual and natural resources.

It was noted with satisfaction that, despite the negative consequences of global and regional processes, as a result of the systematic implementation of reforms, support for manufacturing entrepreneurship, digitalization, rapid industrialization, and the development of the agricultural sector, positive economic growth was ensured in the first half of 2026.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that in January-June 2026, the country’s economic growth rate was 8.2 percent, and the gross domestic product amounted to 81.7 billion somoni.

It was highlighted that the development of the national economy was ensured by an increase in the volume of industrial production by 14.1 percent, agriculture by 7.2 percent, investment in fixed assets by 18.4 percent, shipping by 14.7 percent, trade turnover by 26.1 percent, passenger transportation by 8.0 percent, and paid services by 10.6 percent.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, noted that the inflation rate during this period was 2.4 percent.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, noted that the state budget revenue plan for January-June 2026 was implemented at a level of 114.3 percent, and 36.4 billion somoni were received into the budget.

The heads of relevant structures also reported on the results of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Tajikistan in the first half of 2026 and the tasks for the second half.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, instructed the executive bodies of state power of regions, cities and districts, heads of relevant ministries and departments to submit their specific proposals on finding additional sources of development, especially in real sectors of the economy such as industry, energy and agriculture, to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan by the end of August this year, in order to ensure stable development of the national economy and increase the real growth rate of gross domestic product by no less than 8 percent in 2026.

The relevant agencies were instructed to find and implement effective ways and means to complete the digitalization of the sectors of the national economy as soon as possible and fully implement the electronic circulation of documents in an interagency manner.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, analyzed the situation of stable supply of the domestic market with fuel and instructed the officials of the relevant structures of the country to take practical measures in order to maintain its price at a stable level and to establish imports of petroleum products and liquefied gas as soon as possible.

The National Bank was recommended to take decisive measures to strengthen non-cash settlements, develop digital banking infrastructure, and create favorable conditions for the use of electronic payment instruments in all regions of the country, especially in remote areas.

The meeting continued with a discussion of the prospects for the main macroeconomic indicators of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027-2029.

It was emphasized that the perspective has been developed to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, the adopted state, sectoral, and regional programs for the socio-economic development of cities and districts.

The relevant ministries and departments were instructed to take into account the outlook for the main macroeconomic indicators of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027-2029 when forming the state budget for the next years, and also, in the event of changes in the economic situation of the country, including the impact of external factors on it, to timely submit proposals for making changes and additions to the outlook for the main macroeconomic indicators of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027-2029.

The meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan also discussed and adopted the Program for the Development of Vocational Guidance in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030 and the Program for the Development of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan for 2026-2030.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, gave specific instructions for timely and loss-free harvest, expansion of replanting, efficient use of water and land, obtaining two-three crops from arable land, increasing agricultural production, sufficient food reserves for at least two years in each family of the republic, and strengthening explanatory work among the population, expansion of construction and improvement works, reduction of technical and commercial losses, introduction of a unified billing system, and full preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period.

Other instructions were given to officials on preparing for the new academic year, improving the level and quality of services in the education and healthcare sectors, and a worthy celebration of the 35th anniversary of state independence.
