Traditional Highlanders’ House Built in the Ethnographic Village of Zevs in Darvoz District

A traditional house representing the lifestyle of local highland communities has been built in the ethnographic village of Zevs in Darvoz District to preserve and revive the history and civilization of the Tajik nation. This cultural initiative aims to showcase national customs, traditions, and the way of life of mountain-dwelling ancestors and has now become one of the region’s attractive tourist destinations. The house was constructed using traditional national architectural methods and reflects the details of historical everyday life. Inside, visitors can find ancient household items, copper cookware, cradles, handicraft tools, national clothing, and other historical artifacts. Every corner of the house reflects the rich culture and meaningful life of Tajik ancestors.

According to the initiative’s organizers, the primary purpose of establishing such ethnographic houses is to strengthen national identity and patriotism, introduce younger generations to national culture, and attract more domestic and international tourists. It is emphasized that the development of such cultural and tourism sites can significantly contribute to the growth of the tourism sector, create new jobs, and further promote Tajikistan internationally. Local residents warmly welcome visitors and introduce them to traditional handicrafts and national cuisine. Officials noted that improvement works and expansion of tourism opportunities in the ethnographic village will continue in the future to provide even better conditions for visitors and tourists.
