During a press conference of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, it was said that the ministry, in addition to ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the country’s citizens, also guarantees the safety of tourists. That is why in 2018, a tourism police department was established under the Environmental Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, whose task is to ensure the safety of foreign citizens in the country, and in this context, the safety of tourists is considered one of the influential factors in the development of tourism.

At the same time, it was noted that during the reporting period, more than 1 million foreign citizens entered the country, of which 941,300 were tourists, and the tourist police provided services to them within the scope of its mandate.

Given the importance of ensuring the safety of tourists and providing them with assistance, a tourist police department also operates under the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dushanbe.
