In order to implement the “Program for the Development of Crafts in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025”, at the initiative of the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the executive bodies of state power of regions, cities and districts, the “Artisan of the Year” competition was held and concluded at the State Institution “National Library of Tajikistan”.
At the competition, the winners of the Tajikistan artisan festival “Ҳунар беҳтар аз зар бувад” and the republican contest “Ҳунар омӯз” from the Gorno Badakhshon Autonomous Region, Sughd and Khatlon regions, Dushanbe city, and cities and districts of republican subordination presented examples of their crafts to the jury members in 7 nominations: “Textiles and Clothes”, “Woodworking and Wood Products”, “Non-Metallic Mineral Products”, “Metalworking and Finished Metal Products”, “Musical Instruments”, “Fine Arts”, and “Agricultural Crafts”.
This competition was launched and is held annually with the aim of developing handicraft activities, protecting and preserving intangible cultural heritage, educating a sense of beauty, self-awareness, craftsmanship and patriotism, reviving ancestral traditions of folk crafts and popularizing the best traditions of folk crafts, presenting various types of handicraft products, and supporting and encouraging artisans.
It should be noted that the revival and development of the noble traditions and customs of our people, and in this regard, reliance on folk crafts, is evidence of the national self-awareness and distinctive national image of the Tajik people.
At the end, the winners of the competition “Artisan of the Year” were honored with awards, diplomas, and gifts.
